Views & filters

Filter a board on any field, combine filters with "all" or "any", and save views with their filters and display options.

Every board has views: the built‑in Active, Backlog and All issues, and custom views your team saves. A view keeps its filters and its display options, so everyone who opens it sees the same issues, grouped and ordered the same way.

Adding a filter

Filter → Priority → pick a value
The Filter menu after choosing Priority: Priority is, with Urgent, High, Medium, Low and No priority to pick from.

Filter → Priority → pick a value

Click Filter at the right of the views bar. Type in the box at the top to find issues whose title or ID contains the words, or pick a field from the list, then its values. Each filter shows as a chip under the views bar, like Priority is Urgent or Labels includes all of Bug, iOS.

Board → Filter → Priority is Urgent
A Priority is Urgent filter under the views bar, where is changes the condition, Urgent the values and × removes it, and Clear beside it.

Board → Filter → Priority is Urgent

Click the middle of a chip to change its condition (for example is to is not), the value to pick other values, and × to remove it. Clear removes every filter.

Is not keeps issues where the field is empty: Assignee is not Me also shows unassigned issues. Pick No assignee too to leave them out.

Dates

Date filters take a day from the calendar or a day relative to today: today, yesterday, 1 week ago, 2 weeks ago, 1, 3 or 6 months ago, 1 year ago, tomorrow, in 1 or 2 weeks, in 1 month. A relative day moves with the calendar, so a view of Created after 1 week ago always shows the last week, and Due date before today always shows what's overdue.

All filters or any filter

All filters / Any filter
Two filters, Priority is Urgent and Assignee is Me, with the All filters switch that changes them to match any filter.

All filters / Any filter

With two or more filters, the button at the start of the row switches between All filters (an issue must match every filter) and Any filter (one is enough). Between the chips you'll see and or or.

For a mix, add a filter group from the bottom of the Filter menu: a boxed set of filters with its own All of / Any of switch and a + to add filters to it. For example: Assignee is Me and (Priority is Urgent or Due date before today). Groups can hold another group.

The title search and the rest of the filters always combine with "all".

Display options

Board → Display options
Display options open from the sliders button: layout, grouping, ordering, which completed issues show, Show sub-issues, empty columns and card details.

Board → Display options

Click the sliders button next to Filter:

  • Layout: board or list.
  • Grouping: status, assignee, priority or label.
  • Ordering: manual (drag and drop), priority, title, last created, last updated or due date (soonest first; issues with no due date last).
  • Completed issues: all, or only those done or canceled in the past month, past week or past day, or none.
  • Show sub-issues: sub-issues show as cards of their own too (otherwise only top-level issues do, and their sub-issues are counted on the card).
  • Show empty columns on the board.
  • Display properties: which details each card shows.

Saving a view

When you change the filters or display options, buttons appear at the end of the filter row:

  • Save to view keeps them on the custom view you're looking at.
  • Save as new view asks for a name and creates a view with them, the current layout and the view's scope (Active, Backlog or All).
  • Reset goes back to what the view had saved.

Saved views are shared with everyone on the board. Me always means whoever is looking, so a "My issues" view works for each teammate. Grouping, ordering, completed issues, sub-issues and empty columns are saved with the view; layout and display properties are your own. Saving or deleting views needs permission to manage projects.

Filters look through the whole board, not only the cards loaded on screen, and column headers count every issue that matches.

Views from Linear

Importing from Linear turns your custom views into saved views with the same filters, including "any of these filters", "is not", due and created dates, cycles, estimates, creators and subscribers. See Importing from Linear.
