Comparison

Deckbell vs Notion

Notion is where many teams write things down, and some run their sprints in Notion databases too. Deckbell is a dedicated issue tracker with team chat and coding agents. Most teams that move their tracking keep Notion for docs.

Updated October 2026, using each vendor's public list prices and documentation.

The short version

Notion is a flexible docs and database tool. You can build a sprint board in it, and Notion's templates add sprints and timelines, but the tracker is something you assemble and maintain from databases. Notion has comments and discussions on pages, but no team chat or calls.

Deckbell isn't a docs tool and doesn't try to be: it has no pages, wikis or databases. What it has is a purpose-built issue tracker with keys, sprints, relations and a ⌘K palette, team chat and huddles next to every board, and agents that turn issues into pull requests. The usual setup is Deckbell for the work and the conversation, Notion for the documents.

Who it's for

Switch to Deckbell if…

  • Your engineering team tracks issues in a Notion database and wants something built for it.
  • You want issue keys, sprints, sub-tasks and blocking relations without maintaining templates.
  • You want chat and huddles attached to the work, not in a separate chat app.
  • You want coding agents that open pull requests from an issue.

Stay with Notion if…

  • Your team's work is mostly writing: specs, wikis, meeting notes and knowledge bases. Keep Notion for that.
  • You've built custom databases and workflows that don't map to issues.
  • You rely on Notion AI across your documents, its meeting notes or its enterprise search.
  • You need native desktop and mobile apps.

Price per seat

All charge per member. Most teams keep Notion for docs when they move tracking to Deckbell, so for them Deckbell replaces the chat bill rather than the Notion one. The other columns add Slack.

How to switch from Notion

  1. Step 1

    Create a workspace

Sign up free and invite the people who work on issues. Connect GitHub so agents can work in your repositories and open pull requests.

  2. Step 2

    Export your task database

In Notion, open the database's ⋯ menu, choose Export and pick Markdown & CSV. The CSV holds one row per task.

  3. Step 3

    Import it into a board

Upload the CSV to a Deckbell board and choose which column is the title, status, assignee, labels and estimate. Map each Notion status to a board column, and check the report when it finishes.

  4. Step 4

    Link specs from Notion

Keep specs and wikis in Notion and paste their links into issue descriptions and chat, where links get a preview card.

FAQ

Deckbell vs Notion: questions

Something we didn't cover? Write to support@deckbell.com and a human replies.

Does Deckbell have docs or a wiki?

No. Deckbell has rich issue descriptions (headings, lists, checklists and code, stored as Markdown) and team chat, but no pages, wikis or databases. Most teams keep Notion or another docs tool for long-form writing.

Can we import our Notion task database?

Yes. Export the database to CSV from Notion and import it into a Deckbell board. Deckbell suggests which column is the title, status, assignee, labels and estimate, and you can change any of them. One file can hold up to 5,000 issues.

Why not just track issues in Notion?

You can, and for small teams it works. Teams usually move when they want what a database doesn't give them out of the box: issue keys that link from chat, sprints with estimates, blocking relations, pull requests on the issue, and agents that do the work.

How does pricing compare with Notion?

Notion Plus is $10 per member per month billed annually ($12 monthly), and Business, which includes Notion AI, is $20 ($24 monthly). Deckbell Pro is $8 billed annually ($10 monthly) and Business $15 ($18 monthly), with chat, huddles and AI credits for agents. Prices as of October 2026.
