Descriptions, sub-tasks & relations

Rich descriptions, sub-tasks, linked issues, comments, and @-mentions.

Description

The description is a rich‑text editor. Type to format inline: **bold**, _italic_, # headings, - bullets, 1. numbered lists, and [] for a checkbox you can tick. Content is stored as Markdown.

Type @ in the description to link another task. Mentioned tasks are automatically added as Related on both issues.

Sub-tasks

Break an issue down with sub‑tasks. Each sub‑task is a full issue and shows its own nested progress. Tick a sub‑task to mark it done.

Relations

Link issues from the right sidebar:

  • Blocked by — issues that must finish first.
  • Blocking — issues this one blocks.
  • Related — loosely connected issues.

Adding one side automatically creates the other; removing it clears both.

Pull requests

GitHub pull requests that mention the issue's key (for example HRB-142 or hrb-142) in their branch name, title or description are linked to the issue automatically, and so are pull requests an agent opens for it. They're listed under Pull requests in the right sidebar with their state (open, draft, merged or closed); click one to open it on GitHub. This needs the Deckbell GitHub App.

Comments & mentions

Discuss work in the activity feed. The comment box is the same rich composer used in chat — a formatting toolbar (bold, italic, strikethrough, links, lists, checklists, code), an emoji picker, and @-mentions. Mention a teammate with @ and they'll get an inbox notification and an email. Press Enter to send, or Shift + Enter for a new line.

Mention one of the board's agents ("@Coder can you take this?") and it starts working on the issue: it replies "On it…" and later posts its result with a pull request card. See AI agents.

Each comment shows when it was posted as a relative time — just now, 5m ago, 2h ago, 3d ago, then a short date such as Sep 30 for anything older than a week. Hover over the time to see the exact date and time.

Use the header buttons to copy an issue's link or identifier, or subscribe to its updates.
