Search, command palette & shortcuts

Jump anywhere with ⌘K, search issues, messages and pull requests, and work faster with keyboard shortcuts.

The command palette

Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux, from anywhere in Deckbell, to open the command palette. You can also click the Search box at the top of the left sidebar, or on a phone tap the search icon in the top bar.

Start typing to filter. Use ↑ and ↓ to move, ↵ to open the highlighted result, and Esc to close.

The palette lets you:

  • Go to a page: Dashboard, Inbox, My issues, Chat, Projects, the Agent dashboard, Integrations and your settings pages.
  • Open a project, channel or direct message by name.
  • Search across your workspace (see below).
  • Run an action:
    • New issue opens the board of the project you're in (or the project list), ready for you to add an issue.
    • Create channel names a new channel and, if it's private, takes you straight to inviting people.
    • Start a huddle in this conversation, when a channel or DM is open.
    • Switch to dark / light theme.
    • Notification settings.
    • Keyboard shortcuts shows the list on this page.

Searching

Type at least two characters and the palette searches your workspace as you type. Results are grouped:

  • Issues match on their ID (for example HRB-142), title or description. Open one to go straight to the issue.
  • Messages match on what was written. Selecting one opens its conversation.
  • Pull requests opened by your AI agents, or linked in issue comments. They match on the PR summary, link or the issue they belong to, and open on GitHub in a new tab.
  • People in your workspace. Select someone to open a direct message with them.

Each group shows its top few matches. If there are more, keep typing to narrow it down. Search ignores upper and lower case.

You'll only ever see messages from channels and direct messages you're a member of. Deactivated members don't appear under People.

Search filters for chat

Narrow a message search with these filters, on their own or combined with words:

FilterFinds messages…
in:#channelin a channel whose name contains "channel"
in:@namein your direct messages with someone called "name"
from:@namewritten by someone whose name contains "name"

For example, budget in:#design from:@alice finds Alice's messages about the budget in #design.

Keyboard shortcuts

Single-key shortcuts work whenever you aren't typing in a text box or editor. Press ? at any time to see the list.

The pickers open even when the properties panel is hidden. Hover a property to see its shortcut. Changing properties needs permission to edit issues in the project.
