Importing from ClickUp
Connect ClickUp with a personal API token and bring over spaces and lists with their tasks, statuses, subtasks, tags, dependencies and comments.
Moving from ClickUp? Connect ClickUp with your personal API token and Deckbell copies your tasks straight from ClickUp. You can also import a ClickUp CSV export instead.
You need permission to manage issues to import, and permission to create projects to import into new boards.
Get your ClickUp API token
- In ClickUp, click your avatar and open Settings → Apps.
- Under API Token, click Generate (or copy your existing token). It
starts with
pk_.
The token can read everything your ClickUp account can see. Deckbell uses it only while the import runs and deletes it when the import ends. You can regenerate it in ClickUp afterwards to retire it.
Start an import
Start from Settings → Import → ClickUp, or from a board's ⋯ → Import issues → ClickUp to import into that board.
- Paste your token and click Connect to ClickUp.
- Open a workspace to see its spaces, and open a space to see its lists (lists in folders show as Folder / List).
- Tick whole spaces or single lists to import.
- Choose a new board for each one, or an existing board.
- Choose whether to import comments, click Next, check the statuses and click Import.
ClickUp statuses are matched to columns by name, or by kind: the first status becomes to do, done and closed statuses become done, names like Canceled become canceled, and the ones in between become in progress.
What gets imported
| From ClickUp | In Deckbell |
|---|---|
| Task name and description | The title and description (with formatting). |
| Status | The column you chose. Closed tasks keep their completion date. |
| Priority | Urgent, High, Normal (Medium) and Low. |
| Sprint points | The estimate. |
| Assignees | The first assignee, matched to a teammate by email address, then by name. |
| Tags | Labels, with the tag colours. |
| Subtasks | Stay under their parent task. |
| Dependencies | Waiting on and blocking become blocked-by and blocks links; linked tasks become related. |
| Comments | Up to 200 per task, with their original date and author. |
| Created date | Kept; tasks are numbered in creation order. |
Each issue shows Imported from ClickUp, linked to the original task.
Good to know
- ClickUp allows about 100 requests a minute, and comments are read task by task, so a big space can take a while. Turn off Import comments for a faster import. You can close the dialog and check progress under Settings → Import.
- Archived lists and tasks aren't imported. Attachments, checklists, custom fields and time tracking aren't imported.
- Importing again skips tasks that were already imported and fills the same boards.
- One import brings over up to 10,000 tasks, and your plan's issue and project limits apply. See Plans & billing.
