Microsoft Teams and Discord
Post new issues, completed issues, comments, @mentions and Sentry alerts to Microsoft Teams and Discord channels.
Keep people who live in Microsoft Teams or Discord in the loop: Deckbell can post what happens in your workspace to their channels. These are notifications only; replies in Teams or Discord don't come back to Deckbell.
You need permission to manage integrations to set them up. Go to Integrations → Microsoft Teams or Integrations → Discord.
What can be posted
Pick any of these for each channel:
- New issues: title, project, who created it, status and priority.
- Issues completed: when an issue moves to a done column.
- Comments on issues: who commented and what they said.
- @mentions: when someone is @mentioned in an issue comment or a public channel (or with @here / @channel / @everyone).
- Monitoring alerts: Sentry alerts that Deckbell posts to a chat channel.
Each post links back to the issue or channel in Deckbell. Messages in private channels and direct messages are never sent. Issues imported in bulk don't trigger posts.
Microsoft Teams
Teams receives posts through a workflow:
- In Teams, open the channel and choose ••• → Workflows.
- Pick Post to a channel when a webhook request is received and follow the steps.
- Copy the URL it shows.
- In Deckbell, under Add a channel, give it a name, paste the URL, pick what to send and choose Add channel.
Posts appear as cards from the workflow. Older Office 365 connector URLs
(….webhook.office.com) work too.
Discord
- In Discord, open the channel's settings → Integrations → Webhooks.
- Choose New Webhook, then Copy Webhook URL.
- In Deckbell, under Add a channel, give it a name, paste the URL, pick what to send and choose Add channel.
Posts appear from "Deckbell" as embeds. They never ping anyone in Discord, even when they mention names.
Deckbell posts to Discord through webhooks only. There's no Discord bot, so you can't run commands or reply from Discord.
Projects, test and on/off
- Projects: leave them all unchecked to get every project's issues, or check the ones a channel should hear about. (Mentions in chat channels and alerts aren't tied to a project unless the channel is a project's channel.)
- Send test posts a sample card right away so you can check the URL.
- The switch next to a channel turns it off and on; Remove deletes it.
- Change what a channel gets at any time with its checkboxes.
When posts fail
If Teams or Discord says the webhook no longer exists (it was deleted, or the workflow was turned off), Deckbell turns that channel off and shows why. The same happens after 10 failed posts in a row. Fix or replace the URL, then turn the channel back on. When Teams or Discord asks Deckbell to slow down, posts wait and are sent a little later.
Adding, changing and removing channels, and channels turned off after failures, are recorded in the workspace's audit log.
