Projects & issues

Project settings

Change a project's details, see who has access, and manage its labels and issue statuses.

Open a project and choose Settings in the board's header.

General

Change the project's Name, Description and Project lead, then choose Save changes. The Identifier is the prefix on issue IDs, such as WEB in WEB-12.

Members

The Members page lists everyone with access to the project, with their email and role. Everyone in the workspace has access, so to change this list, go to Members & roles.

Labels

Labels help you categorise and filter issues.

  • Add a label: enter a name, pick a color and choose Add label.
  • Delete a label: choose the delete button next to it.

Issue statuses

Statuses are the columns on your board. They're grouped by kind, which decides how an issue counts: for example, an issue in a completed status counts as done.

  • Add a status: choose the + next to a group.
  • Rename a status: select its name, type a new one, then click away.
  • Set a WIP limit: enter a number in the WIP limit field, or leave it empty. See WIP limits.
  • Change a color: select the status's icon and pick a color.
  • Delete a status: choose the delete button next to it. If it has issues, choose a status to move them to, then choose Delete status. This can't be undone, and a project must keep at least one status.

WIP limits

A status can have a work-in-progress (WIP) limit: the most issues its column should hold at once. Limits keep work flowing instead of piling up in In progress or In review.

  • Set a limit: on Issue statuses, enter a number in the WIP limit field on the status's row and click away. Leave it empty for no limit.
  • From the board: open a column's ⋯ menu, enter the limit and choose Save, or Clear to remove it. Project admins can change limits; other members see the current one.

The board shows the limit next to the column's count, such as 3 / 5. The count turns amber when the column is at its limit and red, with a warning mark and a tinted column, when it is over. A limit is a signal, not a lock: you can still move issues into a full column.

Email

Projects can also take new issues by email. See Email to issue & channel.
