Set up your first project and board

From an empty workspace to a board your team works from: create a project, add issues, set up views, plan a sprint and bring everyone in.

Create your workspace

Choose Create a workspace on the sign-in page at app.deckbell.com, or go to app.deckbell.com/signup. There are five short steps:

  1. Enter your email. We suggest your work address.
  2. Enter the code we email you.
  3. Name your workspace: your company or team name. You can change it later in settings.
  4. Add your name, which is how teammates see you in issues and chat.
  5. Invite teammates by email, or skip this and invite people later.

Create a project

From Projects, create a new project. It comes with a board and default workflow statuses: Todo, In Progress, In Review and Done.

Each project also gets a linked channel, named after it, so the conversation about the work sits next to the board.

Add issues

On the board, use the + at the top or end of a column to add an issue. Every issue gets an identifier like WEB-12 and a readable, shareable link.

Open an issue to set its properties from the right sidebar:

  • Status: the workflow column.
  • Priority: Urgent, High, Medium, Low, or none.
  • Assignee: a teammate.
  • Estimate: story points.
  • Sprint: the cycle it belongs to.
  • Labels: coloured tags you can create inline.

Changes save instantly. Break bigger work down by creating sub-tasks from within an issue, and drag cards between columns to change their status.

Shape the board with views and filters

Switch between the built-in Active, Backlog and All views, or save your own. Click Filter at the right of the views bar to narrow the board by status, assignee, priority, labels, sprint or text. Within one kind of filter any chosen value matches; each extra kind narrows the result further.

When you change the filters, Save to view keeps them on the custom view you’re looking at, and Save as new view creates a new one. Saved views are shared with everyone in the project, and “Me” always means whoever is looking, so one “My issues” view works for each teammate.

  • Layout: Board or List.
  • Group by status, assignee, priority or label.
  • Order issues manually with drag and drop, or by priority or title.
  • Display properties: choose which chips show on each card, such as identifier, priority, assignee, labels, estimate and sub-task progress.

Plan a sprint

Sprints let you plan work into time-boxed cycles. Create sprints from a project’s Sprints page, assign issues to a sprint from their Estimate & Sprint properties, and track progress with story-point estimates. Sprints and saved views are part of the Pro plan and up.

Invite your team

Open Settings → Members and click Invite member. Enter their email and pick a role: Owner, Admin or Member. They get an email with a link to join; invitations expire after 3 days, and you can cancel a pending one.

When someone joins, each existing teammate gets a direct message with a “joined” card and a one-click Send welcome message button.

Talk about the work next to it

  • Click Chat in the board’s header to open the board’s channel in a panel beside it, so you can talk and move cards at the same time.
  • A new issue posts a card in the channel, and the card’s thread is the issue’s comments: reply wherever you happen to be.
  • Type an issue’s key, like WEB-142, in any message and it links to the issue.
  • Hover over any message and click Create issue to turn it into an issue on a board.

Bringing work from another tool?

Open the ⋯ menu in the board header and choose Import issues to bring issues over from Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues, Trello or a CSV file, or use Settings → Import to connect Linear, Jira or ClickUp directly.
